The 2023 BAFTA Game Awards saw wins for the likes of God of War Ragnarök, Tunic and Vampire Survivors. Here’s the full list of winners.
Naturally, we put on our finest clothes and combed our hair in preparation for last night’s BAFTA Game Awards. Well, we put on a decent dressing gown and ate a quality bag of crisps at any rate.
Still, while we weren’t actually at the Queen Elizabeth Hall for this year’s glitzy ceremony, we could at least vicariously enjoy the wins via social media. And on the face of it, God of War Ragnarök was the big game of the night, with 15 nominations and a thumping five wins, including EE Game of the Year.
The big surprise of the night, though, was the tiny indie Vampire Survivors stalking off with Best Game as well as Best Game Design. It’s an incredible achievement, particularly in the face of such big-budget competition. It’s pleasing to see the charming Tunic and Sam Barlow’s stunning Immortality get recognition.
If we’re being honest, we’d have liked to have seen Manon Gage get a win for her performance in Barlow’s edit-’em-up, but you can’t really complain too much at Christopher Judge getting the gong – his turn as Kratos in God of War Ragnarök was heavyweight in every sense.
And bless him, Kirby even got a shiny BAFTA mask for his latest outing, Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Congrats, little guy.
