Resident Evil | Capcom wants to know what you’d like remade next

A new Capcom survey asks the all-important question: what Resident Evil entry would you like to see remade next?

Capcom has, it’s probably fair to say, been on a bit of a roll lately, what with Street Fighter 6 just launching to near unanimous praise and the potentially divisive Resident Evil 4 Remake more than living up to fans’ lofty expectations.

The Japanese firm is clearly thinking about its future plans for the Resident Evil franchise, too. In  a recent online survey, spotted by Destructoid, Capcom asks a bunch of questions about how familiar you are with Resident Evil and its various spin-offs films, merchandise, and social media accounts. The usual marketing stuff, essentially.

Right at the end of the survey, though, comes the juiciest question: “Let us know if there are any other Resident Evil games you want remade.”

Helpfully, there’s a box where you can type in your response:

In terms of big hitters, the logical step for Capcom would presumably be to remake 2009’s Resident Evil 5 – though that game’s controversy, with its African setting sparking all kinds of debate over its potentially offensive depictions of race, might make the company think twice about returning to it.

Whatever Capcom chooses to remake next, there’s also the question of when the next original sequel is likely to come out. In May this year, Twitter’s RinoThe Bouncer had a whole raft of Resi rumours to share, including a castle setting, the return of zombies, while the title is said to be the somewhat clumsy Resident Evil ApoaIXpse (with the Roman numerals embedded in the name, like Resident Evil Village).

The word is that Resident Evil Apocalypse will be formally revealed in the autumn – sometime around October or November. We’ll have to wait and see whether any of those claims are remotely accurate.

In the meantime, you can fill in Capcom’s survey for yourself here. If you’re a member of the Resident Evil Ambassador Programme, you’ll even pick up 10 points for your efforts.
