Ever since Remedy regained the publishing rights to Alan Wake from Microsoft at the start of the summer, Alan Wake fans have found themselves pulling on Remedy’s coat like an annoying kid standing with their mum outside the sweet shop. We want the sweets, they know we want the sweets, and we want them to know that we’ll keep asking until they cave and give us the sweets.

Combing the gaming desert for any sign of a potential Alan Wake remaster release, YouTuber Doctre81 thinks he’s put 2 and 2 and 3 and 9 together and found some evidence that we’ll be able to stop pestering Remedy soon enough.

During his typical scour of industry LinkedIn profiles, Doctre81 discovered that a former lead software engineer at Virtuos Games was tinkering away on an AAA “action adventure game remake” with destructible environments. Virtuos have previously worked with Remedy on Quantum Break, so maybe that means Virtuos is working on an Alan Wake remaster alongside its efforts to bring The Outer Worlds to Nintendo Switch. Maybe.

We’re not likely to get any quick confirmation on this, if indeed it’s true. Remedy has so far only confirmed that they “could” release Alan Wake now that they have the rights back.

“The only thing we want to clarify, now that Remedy owns the publishing rights, is that we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose,” the developer told Eurogamer back in July. “We have nothing to announce for now. We are fully focused on Control releasing on 27th August.”

Let’s wait and see…
