Little Nightmares sequel in the works at Bandai Namco

Little Nightmares 3 could be on the way, as Bandai Namco puts out a job listing related to the macabre series.

The nightmarish puzzle-platformer series Little Nightmares is getting a new entry of some sort – as proven by a job listing put out by publisher Bandai Namco.

As picked up by comicbook.com, a recent LinkedIn post advertises the role of producer assistant. The successful applicant will, the post reveals, be working at Bandai Namco Europe as an intern on an unspecified game related to “Little Nightmares IP”.

“You will provide support in relation to the day-to-day production activities related to assigned projects,” the posts reads; “coordination, milestone reviews support, documentation, etc.”

The post doesn’t specify exactly what the game is, so it’s impossible to know whether the studio’s working on a direct sequel to 2021’s Little Nightmares 2 or some unrelated spin-off – Little Nightmares Kart, perhaps? There’s probably a gap in the market for a macabre arcade racer.

Conjecture aside, this is the first time we’ve seen signs of what Bandai Namco plans to do with the IP following Tarsier Studios’ acquisition by the insanely wealthy holding company Embracer Group in 2019. Tarsier developed the first two Little Nightmares games, but the rights to the series belong to Bandai Namco.

Tarsier announced via Twitter that it was working on an entirely new project in March of this year, with an image of a boat rowing into an inky ocean hinting at some of the same creeping dread that made its earlier games such a standout.

While it’s more than a tad unfortunate that the minds that created 2017’s Little Nightmares and its sequel no longer have control over the series they created, it’ll be intriguing to see where a new team will take the property next. We’d happily put a few hours into Little Nightmares Kart if that is indeed a thing.
