Street Fighter 6 | Rashid’s wind is a bit too strong for comfort

Street Fighter 6 newcomer Rashid of the Turbulent Wind turns out to be a bit too windy, with his Ysaar attack proving devastating against opponents.

Rashid of the Turbulent Wind joined Street Fighter 6 on 24 July, becoming the 19th character available in the game’s line-up and the first addition to the cast since the game launched in early June.

Almost right away, though, some players have begun to notice a problem: Rashid’s gusty attacks are surprisingly powerful, with one super attack in particular – the Ysaar, which sends a miniature tornado spinning across the screen – proving particularly devastating.

Over on the Website Formerly Known as Twitter (and reported by Gamespot), Justin Wong shared a short clip which shows the problem: once unleashed, the Ysaar attack stays on the screen, causing repeated chip damage that can only be blocked for so long.

Needless to say, this is far from ideal, and Capcom has stepped in to note that it’s dealing with the issue. “We are aware of an issue with Rashid regarding Ysaar staying on-screen for a prolonged amount of time and are investigating,” it wrote on Twitter/X later that day.

More recently, Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 would be undergoing a bout of emergency maintenance.

“In order to fix the issues identified with Rashid’s Yaar and JP’s Embrace attacks,” the studio wrote, “emergency maintenance for Street Fighter 6 will take place today, July 25, for around two hours.”

In the UK, that maintenance began at 9am BST, which is 1am PDT.

There’s also a Town Hall Q&A scheduled to take place on 25 July at 6pm PT (2am on 26 July in the UK), where developer Andrew Alfonso will take to Discord to talk about the gaming’s making in general and Rashid in particular. We’re guessing there’ll be a fair bit of chat about Rashid’s immensely powerful wind, and what will be done to calm it down a little bit.
