Director Sam Lake has said that Alan Wake 2 will be receiving some substantial free DLC, in addition to paid DLC after launch.

Sam Lake, the director of Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming survival horror sequel Alan Wake 2, has said that the game will be receiving free downloadable content after launch.

“We do have free DLC drops coming, and they are pretty significant,” Sam Lake said in a live Q&A session at the EGX conference in London on Friday. “I’m expecting us to be going more into detail pretty soon after the game is out. But all of that will be free for everyone who gets the game.”

It’s currently not clear what the free DLC for Alan Wake 2 will involve. But we do know that the game will also be receiving two paid DLC expansions, known as Night Springs and Lake House, respectively.

Alan Wake 2 was originally set to launch on 17 October, but the release date was pushed back by 10 days as a result of October’s packed release schedule. The original launch date would have seen the game emerge at almost the same time as Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The busy release window has also seen rival survival horror game Alone in the Dark being pushed back to January.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Martian Manhunter actor David Harewood would be starring as the enigmatic Mr. Door in Remedy’s game.

Alan Wake 2 is set for release on 27 October on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
